More about the Feast of Fabulous Wild Men

... remember our wildness at a time when those of us online live in such a curated and ordered virtual world.

I discovered this holiday on one of those “unique holiday” calendars many years ago:  It has been on my personal calendar ever since. Since I'm a man who feels inspired by the idea of the Feast of Fabulous Wild Men, and there has been so little to find online about it up until now,I decided to become a champion.

Almost all of the online references I have found that mention the Feast of Fabulous Wild Men focus on ogling men. For those who want a day to feast your eyes on men: do that, too. I’m a feminist, and a sex-positive man, so I think that dedicating a day to man-watching is just fine if that’s what floats your boat.  But there is potential for so much more to this day. Besides, if you are paying attention to your unique holidays, and you want an excuse to ogle attractive guys, you will be even more on-target to celebrate Man Watcher's Day on January 8. Better yet, you can have a mini “Man Season” by starting your ogling on January 8th and culminating with this feast on January 12th.  That way you get it all!

For me, The Feast of Fabulous Wild Men is an invitation to explore and play with the positive side of wildness in men.  The idea of this Feast evokes everything from the child character of Max in Where the Wild Things Are, to the freeing experience of attending spiritual men’s retreats, to men who step outside of convention or live in the wild in (in movies, literature, or real life), to native men’s traditions, to healthy & uninhibited sexuality.
